Where are you from and what inspired you to become a television writer?

I grew up in the Maryland/DC area and then moved to Houston Texas for Jr. High and High School. I was always pretending as a kid. Putting on shows and the like. My family still creates skits to amuse ourselves during the holidays. Mix that with an unhealthy obsession with “Dallas” and “Fantasy Island” and boom.

Who is your all time favorite television character and why?

Hands down it’s Mr. Roarke on “Fantasy Island.” There was something so cool and mysterious about him that kept me spellbound even when some of the storylines were creepy. I loved that he made it his business to grant wishes with the caveat of be careful what you ask for. Lessons were inevitably learned and cocktails were imbibed. Nice work if you can get it. Funny enough writing provides the same sort of release for me since I don’t live on an undisclosed island within a tropic latitude. Spinning out dreams that make you cry, laugh, and learn. I like giving myself and others an eyeball into a world or a situation completely removed from their normal day to day but thematically resonates on that “same but different” frequency. Plus no one can rock an all-white polyester suit better than Ricardo Montalban.
