Where are you from and what inspired you to become a television writer?

I’m from San Diego. Growing up, I loved The Twilight Zone and MASH (they’re still two of my favorites) and these are the shows that inspired me to become a television writer. Whether the stories were funny, heartbreaking, profound, or just plain weird, they were always believable because they were rooted in such believable characters. I remember particular episodes from each series that made me think “I want to write that someday,” but what stands out most was the episode of MASH where Henry finally gets to go home from Korea only to have his plane shot down. I went from laughing to crying in under 5 minutes and from that moment on I was absolutely hooked.

What Spec did you write to get into the workshop?

Who is your all time favorite television character and why?

Hawkeye Pierce from MASH. He’s a boozehound womanizer with absolutely no regard for authority who also happens to be a brilliant surgeon with a passionate desire to heal his patients. I love the dichotomy. It’s just so… human.
